Statesboro-Bulloch County Parks and Recreation Dept Cotton Pickin Harvest Festival

Friday, October 23, 2009 was the annual Cotton Pickin Festival at Mill Creek Park in Statesboro, GA.  Heart of Dixie Equine Rescue, Inc. had a table.  Some of the great girls from Rose Court Farm’s RIFNA (Riders Interscholastic Foundation of North America)  team volunteered to paint faces, hand out candy and HODER information to lots of local people.  Our special guest star for the event was Spirit.  Spirit is a rescued miniature horse that belongs to one of our founding members, Nancy.   He greeted all the children and enjoyed many pets, hugs and pictures.  It was magical to see the children’s joy at being close to this gorgeous boy.  Spirit was trooper and even helped the Parks and Recreation Dept keep their grass mowed.   We handed out every piece of literature in our possesion.  We met many wonderful people and had some great offers of assistance and lots of interest in learning more about Equine Rescue.  We have a great community and I am proud to be a part of it.  Thanks to all our volunteers that helped to set up and staff the booth.
